Established in 2009, the Insure The Cure (ITC) Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with cancer and their family members.  From helping to pay for transportation expenses to/from treatments, to assisting with food & lodging expenses during out-of-town treatments, to providing free gifts and sporting event tickets for patients & their families, the Insure The Cure Foundation has already provided numerous programs and assistance that have financially and emotionally supported our patients.

OUR MISSION

Insure The Cure Foundation’s mission is to provide a sense of normalcy for cancer patients & their families while helping them maintain a high quality of life and keep a positive attitude during their battle with cancer.

GOAL

Insure The Cure Foundation’s primary goal is to ease the financial burden and add quality of life to adults and children with cancer by providing them with financial and emotional assistance so they can focus on winning their battle with cancer and going back to living the lifestyle they lived prior to their cancer diagnosis.  We also maintain the goal of helping our society to get rid of cancer once and for all, but in the meantime we are fully dedicated to helping as many cancer patients and their families as possible.

HISTORY

The original idea was started in 2007 when Mike Canahuati, a Houston area FARMERS Insurance agent, started donating a percentage of his agency’s income from the sale of insurance policies, towards cancer research.  Mike started the “Insure The Cure program” due to watching both of his parents die from cancer during his adolescence and realizing the humiliation and depression, along with the pain & suffering that comes with being a cancer patient or a family member of a cancer patient.

It wasn’t until the end of 2009 that Mike decided to turn the Insure The Cure program into the Insure The Cure Foundation.  It was also at that time that Mike decided to create additional programs for the foundation and start gearing the foundations efforts towards helping individuals and families currently affected by cancer as opposed to making donations towards hospitals and research programs.  With that, our foundation has a new vision and that vision is for our organization to help provide individuals and their families with assistance to ease their transition from everyday life, to every day fighter.
