NECCASO GREEN UNIT

ITCF – is well-known over the years in providing Anthropogenic and Tourism Natural Resource Conservation,Protection and Management [Bird-Life, Aquatic-Life {Lotic & lentic} and Wild-Life] Action & Service through Green Training to the youths all over the world under the Sustainable Green Tourism Agenda.
Over the past years, the Foundation has trained over 75 NECCASO Program officers in Kenya and still expanding. The Training program offered is one of a kind in its spaces and as we seek to form a Sustainable Touristy Community comprised of real-time Tourism Resource enthusiasts and conservationists whom we want to equip to aggressively aid in combating climate change menace, Tourism Resource care generations etc.
The Training is Voluntary and Focuses on Youths Aged 18years to 28years With a Sole Obligation of Nurturing Future Sustainable Tourism Leaders in The Spaces of Natural Tourism Resource Conservation, Protection and Management.

NECCASO Trainees are equipped with Vocational Skills to enable them be able to sustain themselves; an approach aimed at empowering the Youths to be leveraged from the normal life status to a more empowered, Self-dependent and reliant status in Kenya combined with professional training courses thus enabling them to be job creators and not job seekers.

Who Can Join the Unit?

National Ecotourism Civilian Conservation Action and Service Officers Program [NECCASO] Enrolls students/Trainees with any mean grade both in primary and secondary school and this also includes Gap-Year Students, Conservationists, Tour/Game Guides, Nature Trail employees, Rangers, Girl Guides and Boy Scouts among other special interest groups. The program is non- discriminatory and therefore absorbs all youths in different parts of the world. All the students who enroll with us must provide essential documents as follows:

  • National Identity Card- Original and Photocopy
  • Latest Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Kenya Certificate of Primary Education / Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
  • Latest Medical Health Report
  • Provide Required Fees, personal utility items

The Training Levels

All Trainees will be trained in TWO levels from introductory [Level 1] and Advanced level [Final Level] Each category will subject all trainees/ students to the following termly training period which shall be subject to review from time to time depending with the training structures as set by the instructors: At the end of the advanced training program; trainees will be required to specialize and have a mandatory 3 months field induction program before certification process either internally to the individual CBO’s, NPO’s, SHG’s or externally to the partner organizations and conservancies.

Roles of the NECCASO Green Unit Officers

In summary, the following shall form part of the duties and roles of NECCASO personnel.

  • Protection of endangered animal species through welfare support alongside the important Semi-Autonomous Government agencies like KWS, KFS, Conservancies etc..
  • Sensitizing The Touristy personnel, Communities living around Natural Tourism Resources on Matters Conservation, Protection and Management.
  • Establishing, Creating and Managing Agritourism Centers within Communities.
  • Voluntary Enforcement Support in Areas of Need Especially to the areas Termed as Touristic Attraction Zones within the Category Type [Nature Based Tourism] not limited to parks, reserves
  • Coordinating Tourism Clubs Touristy Action and Service Programs from different regions, Counties and Sub-Counties in Kenya and Partner Nations.

As a Nature Conservation Officer, you will have a wide range of responsibilities. Some of the key tasks you can expect to undertake include:

  • Conducting surveys and monitoring populations of plants and animals
  • Imagine yourself venturing into the depths of a dense forest, armed with binoculars and a notebook. Your mission is to observe and document the diverse array of plant and animal species that call this habitat their home. Through your surveys and monitoring efforts, you will gather valuable data that will contribute to the understanding and conservation of these precious ecosystems.
  • Managing nature reserves and protected areas
  • Picture yourself standing at the entrance of a nature reserve, welcoming visitors and educating them about the importance of preserving these pristine areas. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of these protected spaces, ensuring that they remain havens for biodiversity and providing a sanctuary for both wildlife and humans alike.
  • Developing and implementing conservation strategies
  • As a Nature Conservation Officer, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative strategies to protect and restore ecosystems. From creating habitat restoration plans to implementing sustainable land management practices, your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the long-term survival of our natural heritage.
  • Working with local communities and stakeholders to promote sustainable practices
  • Collaboration will be a cornerstone of your work as a Nature Conservation Officer. You will engage with local communities, forging partnerships and fostering a sense of environmental stewardship.
